AAHA is an international association of more than 17,000 veterinary care providers who treat companion animals.


Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA)

SCVMAThe Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA) is a professional association made up of veterinarians dedicated to the advancement of animal health. Founded in 1905, the SCVMA is made up of more than 1,200 veterinarians (most in Southern California) who have met all the requirements for membership. The SCVMA's many programs include continuing education seminars and symposia of the highest quality for members. The SCVMA also works with local governmental agencies in the control of rabies through voluntary staffing of public dog anti-rabies vaccination clinics at which nearly 2 million dogs and cats have been vaccinated since the program was begun in 1955.


American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)

AVMA logoThe American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), established in 1863, is a not-for-profit association representing more than 80,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services. Structured to work for its members, the AVMA acts as a collective voice for its membership and for the profession.

Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health, the relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.
