The Veterinarians
Tanveer Hussain, D.V.M.
Dr. Tanveer Hussain is a 3rd generation veterinarian and is a 1973 graduate of Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Agriculture-Lyallpur, Pakistan. He joined the staff at GSAH in 1976 and became sole owner in 1982. Dr. Hussain is extensively experienced in surgery and internal medicine and has a special interest in dog and cat dentistry. He and his wife, Farzana have three sons.
Joycelyn Quan, D.V.M.
Dr. Joycelyn Quan is a 1988 graduate of the University of California at Davis - School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Quan joined GSAH in 1988 and became a partner in 1998. Dr. Quan's area of experience is in general practice and she has a special interest in exotics. She and her husband, Vaughn have two sons, a pair of Guinea Pigs, a tortoise, a crawdad, fish and an assortment of insect pets.
Ahmad Hussain,
D.V.M.
Dr. Ahmad Hussain is a 4th generation veterinarian and graduated from St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. He joined GSAH in 2019. His experience is in general practice and has an interest in neurology and dentistry. He enjoys spending his time watching sports, movies, and spending time with his gecko, Abdul.
Veterinary Acupuncture
Arlene Gillo, L.Ac.
Arlene Gillo graduated summa-cum-laude from Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in 2000 and received her license in acupuncture the same year. She continued her studies in Beijing, China where she interned at several hospitals. When prescribing herbal formulas, Arlene carefully considers her patient's constitution and condition in order to support and strengthen mind and body.
Being an animal lover and having three dogs of her own, Arlene did an internship at Rose City Veterinary Hospital to learn animal/veterinary acupuncture. She is certified in canine massage and worked at Dog Paddle Hydrotherapy Camp and Wellness as an animal/veterinary acupuncturist. She works closely with veterinarians, providing acupuncture and prescribing herbs and nutritional supplements to dogs and cats with various ailments.

Veterinary Technicians
Veterinary technicians assist veterinarians in providing care to animals. They perform routine laboratory and clinical procedures, such as taking blood, giving medication, and performing medical tests, all under the supervision of a veterinarian. They are familiar with a range of high-tech diagnostic equipment and can provide specialized nursing care for injured or ill animals. They are also responsible for recording an animal's history, as well as information on its weight, food intake, diet, behavior, and other symptoms, which is a necessary tool in diagnosing an animal's illness and developing a treatment plan.
The veterinary technician makes sure that the patients are comfortable and in a clean environment. They keep a close eye out for the critical patients and inform the veterinarian of any changes in the patient's condition.
Veterinary Reception
Our courteous and attentive reception staff will greet you and get all the necessary paperwork in order to make sure your check-in runs smoothly.
The receptionist reviews the chart prior to the doctor so they can inform the doctor if any vaccines or other annual or routine treatments are needed.
Since we are "appointment only", the receptionist can make an appointment that is best suited for you and your pet. The reception staff, along with the doctors, try to keep as close as possible to the schedule. Sometimes there are walk- in emergencies that need to be seen immediately. These instances are beyond our control and we ask for your patience. We would hope you would understand the situation and know that if your animal was in need of immediate medical attention we would do the same for you in an emergency.
The receptionists are knowledgeable and can give you "after-care" information upon picking your pet up from surgery. They provide you with an information sheet with all the care directions you need for home recuperation. Should you have any questions, you are always welcome to call us.
